Loving
to create art is among Wendy Winbeckler’s earliest memories. Born in 1952, she is a life-long resident of the beautiful
Seattle area where she raised her family and owned several businesses. With a dedication to art, she considers herself fortunate
to have established a passion to communicate through a visual language. Her enthusiasm in the art field has led her to sell
prints in local stores, juried exhibits of her awarded work, and gallery exhibits. Winbeckler is a mixed media experimental
artist.
In 1984, while being a full time mother of two children, she embarked on a successful home interior
business venture called Interior Image and began her career as a commissioned artist. In addition, Winbeckler has been a Washington
State registered counselor since 2000 and a Reiki therapist since 1998. Her work in the health and healing arts field has
guided her to bring energy medicine, and specific paintings together in the form of Mandala art.
Winbeckler
studied art technique, color theory, elements of art design and acclaimed artists. Georgia O'Keeffe, Gustav Klimt, Vincent
van Gough, and Frida Kahlo are artist among her favorite inspirations.
Winbeckler states,
“Each new painting seems to develop its own personality, so I use whatever medium I can to bring out the desired results.
I enjoy all mediums but love watercolor. It is exciting to watch paint mixing on the paper into a beautiful design. Watercolor
is said to be challenging, which makes it all the more motivating to work with.”
Photos
and inspiration for her art routinely come from the places has she has traveled. Highlights include traveling through Europe,
touring the Louvre Museum in France, visiting Mexico and sightseeing in the United States and Canada. However, childhood memories
of vacations on the Washington and Oregon coast are closest to her heart.
Many people have a
defining time in their life that seem challenging, but is actually an incredible learning experience. In 1998, a diagnosis
of psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia changed Winbeckler’s life. Rheumatologists informed her that she would be incapable
of walking without strong pharmaceutical drugs and would lose mobility of her hands.
She faced multiple challenges caused by this disease. There were days when she was unable
to walk due to sporadic pain. Knowing that she could not tolerate drugs, she turned to natural healing methods. This bleak
diagnosis brought Winbeckler to a new way of life and a new way of creating her art.
Yoga and meditation has been a part of Winbeckler’s life since 1971. After the diagnosis in
1998, she added several other modalities. Acupuncture, Reiki therapy, cranial sacral therapy, medicinal herbs, walking, lifting
weights, raw plant based foods and aspects of an ayurvedic life style were elements that she included. Research through books
and film was an inspirational part of her transformation into health.
Winbeckler is evidence
that health challenges can inspire one to successfully utilize natural healing methods when facing a harsh disease. Because
of this life adjustment, she embarked on a path in the health and healing arts field in energy medicine. In addition, her
paintings became more important as a healing tool for herself and for others. Through this experience, she began painting
commissioned Mandalas.
Practicing Hatha Yoga
and meditation is an important part of her life. She has a love for the study of nutrition, science, quantum physics and metaphysics.
Her other work includes professional cake decorating, icing sculpture art, interior design and photography.
Giving has always been important and essential to her. Dedicated to helping others through counseling, Reiki,
and art, she has given gifts to many private parties and businesses. The Auburn Dance Academy and The British Dance Academy
are among the recipients.
Wendy Winbeckler is
a renaissance woman, always reawakening and discovering new aspects of her life and creativity. In addition, being the mother
of two grown children and grandmother of Chetza Blu, and Orion Jaeger is a wonderful part of her unique journey.
